Copy II Plus as a Network Helper The Copy II Plus software can be a powerful management tool on the Digicard network. Of course, if you don't know what you're doing, it can just as well be very destructive. Use it with caution. Below are instructions on how to install and use Copy II Plus. STEP 1 Log into Mandrake, go to Software Management, then to Install Software, and copy the Copy II Plus software to the network. Select the slot/drive, there is one disk to copy, and be sure to specify that you want to load the software onto a PUBLIC AREA. Select the ProDOS Main Public Area named /SRC. A subdirectory will be suggested, such as /SRC/C2PLUS. Accept this suggestion, or use any other subdirecotry name you want. The disk is now copied. STEP2 Next you will need to create a menu entry for COPY II PLUS. Go to the Program Selector Editor. We suggest putting the entry inside the ProDOS UTILITIES menu. Move the highlight bar wherever you want the entry to appear, press RETURN, and Paste the entry from the clipboard. The menu entry parameters will be: Menu prompt: Copy II Plus Software area: Public area Operating System: ProDOS Pathname: /SRC/C2PLUS (or whatever name you set) Startup file: UTIL.SYSTEM STEP 3 Whenever you need to use the Copy II Plus software, enter Mandrake, go to Software Management, then to Edit the Program Selector, highlight the Copy II Plus entry, and select Edit this Entry. The only parameter you need to change each time is the SOFTWARE AREA parameter. Change it from Public Area to the name of the software area you want to work on. For example, if you want to modify files on your APPLEWORKS area, you would change the entry for the SOFTWARE AREA to be APPLEWORKS. So now your menu entry would look like: Menu prompt: COPY II PLUS Software area: APPLEWORKS Operating System: ProDOS Pathname: /SRC/C2PLUS Startup file: UTIL.SYSTEM STEP 4 Also, you need to make sure that the Software Area is WRITE ENABLED. From Mandrake's main menu, go to Software Management, then to the SET PROTECTION option to set write enabled access (e.g., for AppleWorks). EXIT from Mandrake. STEP 5 Login to the network as a regular Visitor. Select the COPY II PLUS menu entry. This should launch COPYII PLUS as well as mounting your software area in SLOT 7, DRIVE 1. To have COPYII PLUS access the software area, you need to tell it where to find it. Either use SLOT 7 , DRIVE 1 or if you know the Volume Name of the software area (e.g., /APPLEWORKS) then you can specify that as the ProDOS path. Make your modifications and when you are done, BE SURE to use Mandrake to SET THE PROTECTION on the Software Area back to what it should be - probably WRITE PROTECTED.
