'Dr. Tom' Turley Emails; cturley@grin.net cturley2@aol.com The following ShrinkIt archive: Video1000.BXY consist of three 5.25 - 140k disk (.dsk) images that can be turned into REAL Apple II 5.25 bootable disks, using a varity of programs like disk2file, Asimov 1.4, Copy II Plus v7.1, etc. When I received this disk image collective a few days ago the following information and documentation text file was included with the disk image (.dsk) archives. It's amazing to think that such an animation video program, interface card and system was developed and available for the early Apple II models, so long ago. Read below for an exact copy of this text file which is also included within the Video1000.BXY ShrinkIt archive. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video1000 made by MFB is a video digitizing interface for the Apple II series. It uses the NEC µPB7402C chip. Master.dsk Digitizing software Demo.dsk Demo, does not need interface card Grossbild.dsk Utility for digitizing 768x640 pixels A frame consists of 384x320 pixels (16k) and is stored in the card's video RAM and in the memory range $4000..$7FFF. The card must be installed in slot 7. Upper connector: Video in from Apple Middle connector: Video in from Camera/VCR (50 Hz b/w) Lower connector: Video out to monitor After booting the Master disk you will be asked whether you have a RAM card or not. A RAM card can be used for digitizing movies, Saturn-like models with 128..1024k are supported. Now the video signal will be displayed. Press P for grey scale N for a rastered image (only black and white) -> to increase brightness <- to decrease brightness R to record a picture and display video memory contents Press 'ctrl-S i', i=1..8, to save the picture to a DOS 3.3 formatted disk. The data disks do not have a catalog, image 1 occupies track 3..6, image 2 track 7..11 and so on. With 'ctrl-L i' you can load a picture into video memory. The digitized image is bigger than the hires screen. Press ctrl-A to switch over to hires display, then ctrl-P to fit a grey scale image into the hires screen ctrl-N for rastered images cursor keys, A+Z to select a part of the digitized image without scaling it ctrl-D to save the hires screen (as a regular B file with 34 sectors, on a standard DOS 3.3 disk) A RAM card can be used to digitize a sequence of 8..64 pictures, 4 frames per second. ctrl-R record ctrl-F playback ctrl-B i, i=1..8 select 128k block i, i=1..8 display picture no i from actual 128k block Press Q to exit the program, RUN to restart.
