August 25, 2000 About the Sierra Panorama files in this folder: URL: http://www.grin.net/~cturley/Glen.Bredon.In.Memoriam/Sierra.Panorama/ S.P.1008x208.MOV (QuickTime Movie - one single frame) SP1008x208.SHRP* (Apple IIgs SHR packed graphic file format in 256 colors) *Not included in folder - included inthe Shrinkit ( SP.SHR.BXY) archive S.P.JPEG (Standard JPEG color Graphic file format - 1000ıs of colors) Sierra Panorama.2X.MOV (QuickTime Movie file -single frame only at 2 times normal size) Sierra Panorama.MOV (QuickTime Movie file -single frame only - half the size of the above - Sierra Panorama.2X.MOV file) More Information: This is a composite of several photographs taken by Glen Bredon, that he was working on just before his passing on - May 8, 2000. The original was a Photoshop graphic file in millions of colors that was about 159 MBıs. I first converted it with Photoshop on his Macintosh G3 PPC and saved it as a Photoshop JPEG color graphic in 1000ıs of colors -which was 5.4MBıs in itıs file size. Next I imported it into the QuickTime Pro v4.12 Movie Player and saved it as both of the (.MOV) files - QT Movies in two sizes - using JPEG compression with best picture quality - making both such files very small with about the same quality of graphic color and quality that the original 159 MB Photoshop presented - only of a much smaller size - to allow for efficient size with online viewing - in the QuickTime Movie file format. Please note: The QuickTime Movie files have no multiple frames nor animation. Itıs simply a method to present the single panorama graphic online for viewing with the use of any browser and computer platform that can support online viewing of this QuickTime (QT) movie file format. Next I imported the (QT) movie single frame file - using Debabelizer PPC v3.0 converting the color palette and file to JPEG format with 1000ıs of colors, made a gamma correction, sharpened it, making other misc. file improvements and enhancements with the JPEG file, then saved it as such. Finally, I converted the JPEG color file over to an Apple IIgs SHR packed preferred format (256 color) graphic file as SP1008x208.SHRP. Iıve also included a ShrinkIt (SHK) archive ( That ShrinkIt archive is SP.SHR.BXY) of this IIgs graphic file for you to download and view on your Apple IIgs with any of several Œfreewareı graphic viewer applications for the IIgs that will display it in it's full color perspective. If you need to obtain any of these freeware - Apple IIgs SHR display applications to view the SP1008x208.SHRP graphic file with, you can email me for a list of those with online URL listings for downloading any of them. Having done all this _ Iım fairly sure most any computer platform can have the ability to view this original ŒSierra Panoramaı graphic using their computer system for viewing it - with nominal RAM memory needs. The person standing on the top of the rock on the left of the graphic is Glen Bredon. He never finished or released the graphic file. So, to honor his memory and photographic talents - Iıve finished it up, made the above listed conversions and am releasing it all into the public domain. Cheers & Enjoy!
